ATN Thor320 1x Thermal Detailed Review
Both scopes came from ATN which I bought from Optics Planet. They arrived and I began using them and testing them immediately.I was scared I messed the thing up when I used it on my cat and found the image burnt into the camera.
A little further reading into the instructions found this is a common problem you have to recalibrate for which I did in seconds. If you need either scope I would get this one as it is much cheaper than the 640 and is quality and really all you need. I have no need for any higher power as it is next to impossible I would try to use a weapon on anything you would need 3 or 4X for, as it is very unsafe to do obviously in the dark.
I bought this for home surveillance and if the need would ever present itself, to be attached to an AR for home defense. In this case you would need a 1X only, nothing higher. It is rated for some very far distance which is great but the need for it would come within 100 yards for defense and you got that covered.
The scope itself is very sound and easy to operate. The instructions are very easy to read and pretty quick you can get this thing running and have a command of it.I don’t see how you could get anything better than this. It is a fantastic thermal imaging tool and the reticles and the quick pop on for weapons use makes it very good for home defense if the need would present itself.
It is new and there was some questions with the Optics Planet staff in terms of getting it which the staff did a good job in working with me. They were very nice to work with. All in all, I dont see how you could get anything better. I am new to the thermal imaging thing and wanted something for home defense and think this is a fantastic tool and am very pleased to have it.
If you can afford it and need it you will not go wrong getting this.
Pros: quick, easy to use. Great scope
Cons: pricey
